Can Don Maria Barro pitchers be left outside?

Only in summer. Don Maria Barro jars are not resistant to frost. That's why they have to be inside. If this is not possible, you could also wrap the jug in a cloth or tarpaulin and place it under a shelter/conservatory or in a garden shed. The jug can only be left outside in the summer months, when there is no frost.

I like the jars, but I want to see them in real life first. Where is that possible?

This is possible in the showroom in Gennep. This is the adress:

Rail Street 89

6591 GS Gennep

North Limburg, Netherlands

Where do the Don Maria Barro jars come from?

Don Maria Barro pitchers come from an 18th century vineyard in Portugal. They are handmade in artisanal terracotta workshops in Portugal.

What is the historical background of Don Maria Barro jars? Are they really 50-150 years old?

The jars have been verified by an external antiques expert, who concluded as follows: ''You are in possession of an earthenware/stoneware storage jar, probably of Southern European origin, a model that we do not often encounter in the Netherlands. All kinds of storage vessels were manufactured by the Romans, but also by the Chinese, Persians and Greeks, these models were traditionally copied for many centuries. We are dealing here with a utensil (oil can) with some extra beautiful processing on the belly, most likely made in the 19th century.''

In addition, a single jug has the year 1876 engraved in it.

What is Don Maria Barro doing about sustainability?

- No packaging - We have chosen not to use any packaging for the jars. With this we save a lot of plastic and cardboard!

- Combined freight - The delivery of the jars is carried out by a courier who, based on a freight-sharing platform, travels a route through the Netherlands and/or Belgium as efficiently as possible. This prevents empty cargo space and so-called 'empty kilometers' as much as possible. This saves a lot of fuel.

- Paper saving - We minimize the use of paper. All communication and operational processes are digital.
